Why myself.md?
I've gone back and forth with the question of building myself.md for a while but have finally pulled the trigger and begun building.
Health.md, iso.me, and time.md all capture interesting data points individually - but I want to connect them! How cool would it be to see heart rate across different websites? Answering questions like “Is X website making me stressed" or “After going to the beach I sleep better"!?
While possible to query and explore this data via individual exports from each stand-alone app and joining them together, it's a pain. Myself.md solves this by unifying the data structure and allowing all three data captures to be managed and exported together.
Another issue is the maintainability. Health.md is the most used of the three and thus has the most extensive file and exporting functionality. I've been playing catch-up with health.md for a while now, adding additional export logic like scheduling, file type, etc. throughout the months between the three apps and it's kind of a pain. I already solved this once, why solve it two more times! This is what originally got me thinking of combining the three.
The third big reason is unifying the api with AI in mind. I'm a fan of AI and believe this advance in intelligence can enable individuals to find insight in their own data. So building myself.md from the ground up enabled me to build out an MCP server that works as easily locally as it does in the cloud.
File over app is the core philosophy of my apps, providing each of us with freedom over our own data. This means keeping it local, on our own servers, or sending it off to frontier AI labs to analyze and explore.
I'm still keeping this app as a one-time lifetime purchase and it'll now include a bit of cloud storage if you're interested in exploring the hosted MCP server to query your favorite AI service. If you need more cloud storage (lossless time series data can grow quickly!), there is an optional cloud storage upgrade you can subscribe to.
I built the hosted MCP and cloud service because it's personally how I use and interface with this data and I want to provide that service for others if they're interested. Always-on agents like Grok Bot, Muse, Dot, and Pi Durable are interesting and something worth keeping an eye on.
But as always, you can still export freely to files and external http services to own and use your data however you please! These are all optional.
So, what about Health.md, iso.me, and time.md? As of right now, these apps require minimal upkeep so I plan on maintaining and continuing development on them but that may change in the future. Time.md and iso.me have quite a bit more in regard to visuals so I understand users of these apps may want to continue using them, but health.md is heavily data-driven so maybe users will move to myself.md?
Myself.md will be free for users that have already purchased health.md, iso.me, or time.md. It just requires creating an account and verifying your purchase on the device in the app you purchased. You'll then be able to log in to that same account within myself.md and the purchase will transfer over.
